MIDA Smart Automation Grant (SAG)

Dear All Members,

The Smart Automation Grant is offered to Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and Mid-Tier Companies (MTCs) in Manufacturing and Services Sector. The grant will be given on a matching basis (1:1) based on eligible expenditures, up to a maximum grant of RM1 million per company.

MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority) is organizing a webinar for members  on the topic of Smart Automation Grant (SAG) on the 18th February 2021 at 10.30am.

CMCO SOP In Selangor, KL And Putrajaya

Dear All Members,

Please click the following link to download the latest CMCO SOP. 

Key highlights: 

  • Economic and industrial sector activities in CMCO areas may continue operating as stipulated with compliance to the SOP.
  • Employees are allowed to cross districts and states with the condition of having a valid employment pass or an approval letter from the employer.
  • All vehicles related to the industry, business and manufacturing can operate as usual, including crossing districts and states.
  • For those who need to pass through Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to other states, they are advised to obtain permission from their nearest police station before travelling.
  • Individuals using air travel through KLIA, KLIA2 and Subang Airport must obtain prior approval from the police.

Additional Sector Approval To Operate By MITI

Ministry of International Trade and Industry has provided details of additional sectors authorised to operate as per Annex 1. Companies in the additional sectors listed may submit their application to MITI beginning Monday 13 April 2020, from 9.00 am. All applications must be made online at MITI (www.miti.gov.my). Only applications that are complete and fulfill the conditions will be processed.

Official Announcement by the NSC on the Manufacturing Sector

The Government has agreed for companies producing the list of items as attached to continue to operate at minimal level. Companies will need to ensure compliance with MOH’s requirements at all times and companies will be responsible to bear all costs associated with disinfecting the premises and factories. Companies need to furnish MITI with name list of workers who will be working at the premises and factories during the period of movement control order.

SST Goods Exempted From TAX

Dear All,
Good Day!

Based on available information referring to, SALES TAX (GOODS EXEMPTED FROM TAX) ORDER 2018.

https://mysst.customs.gov.my/SSTOrders

If the company manufacture Goods Exempted from TAX, is eligible to submit the SST registered cancellation request letter to your respective Customs station.

Companies need to ensure followings:-

1. Login and Update the manufactured products into MySST portal and make sure the products are exempted from sales tax, than print your list of product.

2. Submit the SST registration cancellation request letter to respective Customs station and get customs to acknowledge receipt the letter.

Note: Don’t have to collect SST if your goods no SST.

Sales & Service Tax (SST) 2018

Dear Sir / Madam,
Good Day!

Please be informed that Government has announced the Sales and Service Tax (SST) will be implemented starting 1st September 2018. The Royal Malaysian Customs Department had drafted the proposed SST framework as published in their website.

In this regard, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) is taking the initiative to gather feedback/ responses from industries that will be affected by the tax  treatment under the new SST; to be highlighted to the Ministry of Finance.

Therefore we will appreciate if you could provide your feedback/responses by filling up the template accordingly to MIDA.Please also provide explanation with real examples on the tax treatments i.e. types of transactions and subsidiaries affected, etc.

Kindly requested to submit the completed template latest by 9th August 2018 to NikIkram@mida.gov.my

Termination of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) by Jan 2014

As announced since 1 January 2013 through the ePCO system and leaflets at all MITI counters, effective 1 January 2014, Malaysia will no longer enjoy the GSP schemes offered by the EU and TURKEY. Malaysia has been graduated out of the scheme in light of the country achieving upper middle income status (according to the World Bank). MITI will no longer issue FORM A to EU, TURKEY and ASEAN countries. (TURKEY is part of EU Custom Union).
